If you’d ever get a letter published in Your Sinclair magazine there was a chance it became the “Star Letter”. Only one letter would be given that title each month. Due to the humorous nature of the mag, basically any nonsensical letter could be the Star Letter.
If you were the Star Letter winner, you’d receive three free ZX Spectrum games, but also the much coveted “YS Badge” or “Your Sinclair Badge” in the mail.
The YS Badge was a beautiful rectangular metal badge with a red metallic background, unlike many other badges of the magazine that were made. It was manufactured by W Reeves & Co in Birmingham.
Sometimes the YS Badge was just sent to people who simply asked for them, and sometimes they were included with prizes for competition winners. That’s why in all those years of Spectrum computing, I collected three of them!
I could not find many pictures, stories or mentions of the Your Sinclair badge on the internet, so I’m posting them here.
